Bolt and Nut achieve ISO 19443:2018 certification, entering the nuclear supply chain.

Certified by LRQA under UKAS accreditation, the approval confirms BNML’s quality management systems meet the specific demands of the civil nuclear sector — covering the manufacture and supply of high integrity fasteners and CNC components.

ISO 19443 is the first internationally harmonised quality management standard developed specifically for the nuclear supply chain. Built on the foundations of ISO 9001:2015, it introduces additional requirements covering nuclear safety culture, extended risk assessment, traceability, configuration management, and non-conformity processes with customer involvement. It is designed for any organisation in the supply chain providing products or services important to nuclear safety — and is expected to become a mandatory requirement as the sector expands.

« This is a significant milestone for the business. The nuclear sector has some of the most exacting quality requirements of any industry, and this certification is evidence that our systems, our people, and our processes are genuinely up to the task. We’re proud of what the team has achieved. » — Joe Brennan, Commercial Director, Bolt and Nut

For BNML, the accreditation opens a clear route into the civil nuclear sector at a pivotal moment. The UK government has committed to significantly expanding nuclear capacity as part of its net zero strategy, with new build projects and a growing decommissioning programme both creating sustained demand for certified, traceable fastener supply. ISO 19443 positions Bolt and Nut to meet that demand.

The certification adds to an already extensive accreditation portfolio. BNML holds approvals across API 20E, API 20F, API Spec Q1, NORSOK M650, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2018, ISO 45001:2018, TÜV AD 2000, PED and Achilles.
