We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring journey of our Operations Director’s son, James March, who is taking on one of the world’s most physically demanding challenges to raise funds for two incredible charities.

James’ motivation is deeply personal. His mother has bravely battled Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for most of his life. Following a devastating car accident shortly after his birth, her condition deteriorated, leaving her unable to move from the neck down. Despite these challenges, her unwavering strength and positivity have inspired James to dedicate himself to raising awareness and funding for those affected by mobility issues.

Taking on the Jungle Ultra

James has already completed one of the most demanding physical challenges, the renowned Marathon des Sables, a gruelling 257km race across the Sahara Desert, where he impressively secured 3rd place in his age category and raised an incredible £20,000 for charity.

His next adventure takes him to the Amazon Rainforest, where he will participate in the BTU Jungle Ultra, a brutal 230km, five-day race through the dense and humid terrain of Peru’s Manu National Park. This self-sufficient challenge requires runners to carry their own supplies through remote trails with intense humidity, extreme elevation changes, and even encounters with wildlife. With only a 15% completion rate in 2023, it promises to be his toughest challenge yet.

Raising Funds for Important Causes

James’ efforts are in support of two charities that are particularly close to his heart:

  • WalkOnceMore: A charity dedicated to funding cutting-edge research into curing spinal cord injuries (SCI). Inspired by a groundbreaking study in the US, James connected with WalkOnceMore as a way to contribute to vital research that could improve the lives of those with mobility issues.
  • The Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre: A local organisation providing essential therapies and support for individuals living with MS. This centre has supported James’ mother for many years, helping her manage her condition and maintain her quality of life.

Inspired by Resilience

James’ drive to challenge himself physically stems from his mother’s incredible resilience. Despite her condition, she has never given up or stopped being a positive influence in his life. In a heartfelt birthday card, she wrote, “Life is for living! Continue to do everything I would have done and always live life to the fullest. I am proud of you.”

James has taken those words to heart and continues to push himself to the limit in her honour.
